Respite Care by Clarendon
Are you or your loved one in need of respite care or support at home? Our respite care services give a primary caregiver the chance to get a well needed and deserved break. Respite care can give you the chance to take a break from the person you’re caring for.
Our respite care is something that you can decide to use regularly or occasionally. Respite care helps the caregiver to keep up with their own commitments, such as going to the gym, playing a round of golf or even tackling their shopping. Essentially, we will give you the chance to do something which can’t be done whilst with the person needing care. Staying at home is more important than ever for our health, but we do need to keep up with our mental and physical health. If you’re an exhausted caregiver then you should really consider respite care, for yours and your loved one’s sake.
Our respite care services are all bespoke and tailored to you or your family’s needs. Respite care is the first step to making sure your loved one is getting help on a regular basis whilst you’re able to get the break you need. In the future you may decide to move on to live in care or home care, which are both services we also provide.
Our carers are your second pair of hands and aid you to live a dignified life at home.
Who is respite care for?
Our respite care service is predominantly for primary caregivers that need to spread the responsibility of looking after a loved one who still lives at home. We offer an ongoing solution to alleviate some of the weight of looking after a loved one and to take some personal time. Or an occasional solution for holidays or events in which the loved one can or cannot attend.
Our visiting carers often become a lifeline for those that are feeling isolated or alone at home whilst looking after a loved one. It’s hard to put a value on the effect that a friendly face at the door can have on your day, especially when you’re feeling low or like you can’t manage in the same way you used to.
While the care on offer from our expert team usually goes over and above the basics, here are the essential tasks they can help you or your loved one manage:
- Personal care: such as bathing, showering, toileting and dressing.
- Safety: anxiety caused by a fear of falling can be alleviated by someone checking in on a regular basis.
- Help in the home: housework, laundry, shopping, preparing meals and running errands
- Help getting out of the house: for activities with friends or for a nice walk
Who will my carer be?
The key to our success over the years has been simple. We employ the very best carers who are committed to changing people’s lives.
Following an extensive selection process, all of our care assistants are trained in-house by our fully accredited training team. All staff are reference and background checked and during their training they must demonstrate competencies in being reliable, responsive, supportive, approachable, flexible, personable and thorough.
With regular support from our staff of field supervisors and routine appraisals and spot checks, we carefully select the right candidates to ensure that we maintain the high standards we’ve become known for.
How do I arrange my respite care?
First start by giving us a call or filling in the form below. We would love to find out more about you and yours needs so we can provide you with the correct level of care. We’ll start by having an informal chat on the phone and then we’ll arrange a visit at your home. There we can help you start thinking about what sort of care you need and how often you’d like our carers to visit.
From there we’ll work with you, your family and other healthcare professionals to create a care plan that is designed specifically to meet your needs and routines. We’ll use this document to clarify the level of support you want and to agree upon your expectations of the care we’ll provide.
We always strive to help people get the right advice and the right care plan for them. There is a lot, almost too much, confusing information available out there about the way care is organised and paid for and because of that we always want to provide you with a bespoke plan for you.
